The first review was posted in March of 2010 and was a 3 star review. The reviewer stated that this machine was the basic DIY entry level zig-zag and capable of handling heavier fabrics and sails. Reviewer stated that the machine got caught up often, and though intitially that they were using the wrong size needle and/or fabric but found that the clutch mechanism could barely overcome the resistance of the spring-loaded walking presser foot, even when not actually sewing. Reviewer stated the opted to order another, more expensive machine, with a better reputation.
The most recent review was posted in August of 2011 and was a 4 star review. The reviewer stated that the 2000U-33 Barracuda was a “decent” machine, falling somewhere in the middle of others in it field. Reviewer also commented on the fact that because the tray and base are plastic they found it to be flimsy and not the sort of quality they were looking for but they found that it had good torque and penetration.
